At Merry Maids of Fayetteville, our story is about more than just cleaning homes — it is about honoring family, building community, and creating opportunity. Our owner, Fred Surgeon, comes from a family where cleaning was a source of pride and strength. His grandmother cleaned homes, his father worked in commercial cleaning while teaching school, and Fred grew up riding alongside his father to cleaning jobs at just four years old. Inspired to carry forward this legacy, Fred opened his first Merry Maids location in 2011 and proudly launched the Fayetteville office in July 2013.
As a minority business owner and North Carolina A&T State University graduate, Fred’s journey represents tradition and growth. Today, Fayetteville’s Merry Maids is part of a family of eight locations, all headquartered on the grounds of Sweet Valley Ranch, a 300-acre working farm in Fayetteville known for its award-winning Dinosaur World attraction, home to more than 350 animals from five continents. It is also where the Surgeon family's commitment to service shines, blending their passion for family, community, and clean living.
Our Fayetteville office and all our sister locations are proudly guided by Saddie Lowry, whose two decades of Merry Maids experience help ensure quality and care in every home we touch.
The Sweet Valley Ranch also houses Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning and Mosquito Squad pest control services, allowing us to offer our customers bundled discounts on cleaning, carpet, and pest control. Our dedication to Fayetteville runs deep. Merry Maids of Fayetteville is proud to be part of the Sweet Valley Ranch Gives Back Program, founded by Fred and Anita Surgeon in 2021. Our team and Sweet Valley Ranch have helped raise over $220,000 for local charities, including more than $100,000 for Habitat for Humanity, which supports families needing safe, affordable housing.
Sweet Valley Ranch is not only a place of fun, with its Dinosaur World adventure, 350 animals, including camels and zebras, and Sweet Valley Ranch Farmhouse Retreats offering cozy cabins and tiny homes, but it’s also a symbol of our values. Our Merry Maids team proudly cleans every Farmhouse Retreat property.
